To download free music online, in the majority of cases, the listener inevitably has to join the music site where the particular track, or tracks, are located. Obviously, for the independent musician, this has to be a good thing. Having said this, unless a fan informs the musician, the artist has no way of judging if a fan actually came expressly for them or if they visited because they were on the music and liked what they heard.
To download free music online isn't as difficult as it appears. Despite the overwhelming amount on online music sites, the music lover can be signed up to the music sites choices within a matter of days....and that's doing it at a leisurely pace. One can find free mp3 downloads almost everywhere. It pays to check out each site as some do have hidden fees and/or conditions.
With the aforementioned ease with which the music listener can download free music online, the independent musician is faced with the option of whether to make some of their music available as free mp3 downloads, all of their tracks or none of their tracks available as free internet music. As an independent musician, the best option that I have discovered is Bandcamp. The musician is able to sell singles whilst compiling an album and keeping that album 'hidden.' This enables fans to listen to singles and, when the time comes, listen to the album in its entirety as often as the like. Bandcamp also allows the artist to have a discount codeword for each album.
